Get Involved! Become a MASNA Volunteer!

Each year, MASNA has a number of opportunities to serve as a project volunteer. Service as a volunteer

enables you to develop your leadership and team working skills, as well as use your expertise and

experience to help guide MASNA programs, services, and publications.

What is MASNA?

MASNA is a non-profit organization composed of marine aquarium societies and individual hobbyists from

North America and abroad, totaling several thousand individuals.

MASNA’s goals are to:

• Educate our members with online and published material, the MACNA conference, and other

sanctioned events

• Assist in forming and promoting the growth of clubs within the hobby while ensuring a sustainable

future for the marine environment

• Support the efforts to eliminate abuses in collecting and transporting marine organisms through

education, assistance and encouragement

• Encourage the ethical growth of the marine aquarium hobby and support captive

breeding/propagation efforts

MASNA operates from a central Board of Directors elected each year by the delegates from the member

societies at the Marine Aquarium Conference of North America, (MACNA).

As a MASNA Volunteer, you may apply to help with the following projects and others:

• MASNA Live, MASNA’s podcast pertaining to recent hobby events and news

• Public Relations, press release composition, and spreading the word about MASNA’s programs

• Standards, creation of standard operating procedures for various industry wide efforts

• Education curriculum, promotion of current, and creation of new educational material

To apply, you should:

• Be interested in marine aquaria and the marine aquarium hobby

• Be willing to attend volunteer meetings either online or by phone

• Be available throughout the year to work with other project volunteers or MASNA board members

via email and conference call to accomplish MASNA objectives

• Have some experience and/or expertise to contribute to MASNA

MASNA Volunteer hours can be used as a volunteer position for university credit or as a university entry

requirement. Please include your university’s requirements when you fill out the form.

This opportunity is open to anyone 16 years of age or over.
